1st September 2019 - Part 1 - Amazon

talesforlove

These days the many fires in the Amazon have been news and have raised numerous issues related to the environment, management and also related to the people who live in it and want to continue to be there. We are facing a challenge that is much more than a challenge regarding the conservation of a given ecosystem. To some extent, it is similar to the protection given to cork oaks in Portugal as a protected species that it is forbidden to cut, and this can be seen as an interference with the property and management rights that an owner will have over his own assets. The interesting thing is not so much this aspect of reality, because we understand the prohibition due to the importance of the tree, but the possibility that the owner has to derive income from this tree, through cork sales. Looking at the Amazon we can see this challenge with the same eyes and come to the same conclusion: even those who have an economic interest in deforestation of the Amazon rainforest when they realize that they can also subsist, and have the same standards of life with a fully conserved forest they will want that same conservation. Regarding the conservation of the Amazon rainforest, if the problem of its destruction can be considered global, even if the main potential problem is to the countries in which it exists, or may cease to exist, global support for its conservation seems to make sense.

The Lady of Coram by Claire O' Connell from Ireland

Who is she wish of hand?

Fainted lady of Coram,

Calling to the frozen abyss,

Hush to the dead-

-Fast asleep.

Floating frozen ocean shore,

Lost of sight and broken sea floors,

Simple words that string the line,

Gain of nothing; lost of the divine.

She taunts them to escape frozen shores,

Under her rule of taunting pain,

Giving false hope to the frozen souls,

The lady of Coram owns the game.

What is her aim but to win?

She surely carries out her task,

Stay a moment and hear her callous laugh,

To silence the lost is her forte,

All the souls trapped in ocean ice,

Victims of directed fallen Angels winged in black,

The being of many names traps them,

Still to me she is the lady of Coram,

Calling to the dark I hear their roars,

It’s all I ever really hear,

Frozen soul, Ocean Sea,

I wait for the sun to set the shore alight,

Still all that is before me is the Ocean Coram,

I walk away all alone,

I ignore the lost and frozen,

Does that make me worse?

Still under all the façade-

Am I just like her - the lady of the dark.

8th May 2019: Mr Ben, Claire O. and Lisbon Book Faire 2019

Sometimes it is possible to find messages and suggested life “paths” and adventures in poetry and short stories without, however, minimizing poetics. This is the case with the work of Mr. Ben (Chimezie) an author from Nigeria, whose work has just been published in e-book and paperback formats. His work is the one of a person who searches peace and harmony through literature. We invite you to find his writings here:

Today, we also invite you to find a beautiful poem by Claire O’Connell (Ireland) winner of the International Contest Nature 2018-2019. In this poem you will find the unique association between ice and music, in a mysterious walk among castles of awaken dreams. Forget the present day, enter this “feeling”.

Iced Stone

There is a voice inched on ice stoned walls,

Hurled in an echo of phantom deep lunges,

Faded fast on a midnight run,

I was the girl without a song,

Longing for my hymn to break me free,

I yearned for you beyond the ocean sea.

The tears of rivers by lakes iced stone,

Voices haunt the nightmares which left me all alone.

I think of you in dreams gone wrong,

I only hear you call there,

For I awake and you have disappeared.

hat is an iced stone wall without a castle,

It simply melts in the heat,

All the melted water sings,

It sings the waves to sleep,

But not me I stay awake,

I walk these waters all alone,

The storm before me has passed,

But it robbed with it your soul.

Finally, we inform you that the Lisbon Book Faire 2019 is almost starting: already 29th May, until 16th June.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Janice Almond returns with the third and final book of her BEING GRATEFUL series. BEING HAPPY: 10 Keys to Unlock Overflowing Joy in Everyday Living is now available for purchase on Amazon and wherever books are sold.

In her latest book, Janice gives you ten quick and easy keys to maintain your joy and discover purposeful living. If you are ready for a chance to truly appreciate life, this book will help you create inner tranquility, deal effectively with stress, and become happier. Here’s an excerpt!

Choose today to celebrate something in your life. It could be an accomplishment, a blessing, or, yes, even a setback because all of life benefits you in developing your character.

Tell yourself that today is the day you finally quit worrying. What has worry ever done for you? Think about it. Write down how it has helped you. I bet worry has only paralyzed you in some emotional way. I submit to you that although we have a tendency to worry, it is really a waste of time. It is useless. “There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything,” Mahatma Gandhi- Indian Civil Rights leader, (1869-1948).

John Haggai said, “Worry is an intrusion into God’s providence.” You can’t worry and be happy at the same time. Worry will sap your joy! Get rid of your sorrow and enjoy your life to the full. Let God handle what you can’t. I heard someone say once, Pray and let God worry. If you are worrying, stop it this minute! Keep your body from wasting away.
