Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure that today I inform you that the International Literary Contest "Nature 2016" has begun!
Unfortunately, regardless of the efforts of many people all across the globe, our mother land, planet earth,
continues under the threat of the non sustainable activities that all of us believe are needed to our daily life.
In this context, the text of this contest in 2015 deserves to be published again here

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The forest breaths and as a result the planet Earth also breaths, giving us the oxigen that we need to live.
During the Winter, in the north of the planet, where the majority of the dry land exists, many trees
lose their leafs and the carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere producing a small increase in global temperature.
During the Spring and Summer all the trees of the planet grow leafes and they capture carbon dioxide making the weather
lightly fresher than it would be without their action.

To tell you the truth the trees are pressious everywhere, even if they are alone in a grey street of
a city or together with a small group of other in a beautiful artificial garden. To grow a tree is to grow a friend,
it is an act of poetry and who knows of the tales that the sun beams crossing their branches can inspire.

All the insects of the world and all the animals don’t care about written poetry because they have the visual
poetry of flowers in a bed and the colorful grace of reefs. They purely enjoy the beautiful gifts of life!

But, do you know that if the mean world sea temperature rises by 2 degrees celcious that would cause serious
damage to reefs? And do you know that the big secret of dogs is their friendship and friendly approach towards us?
Certainly, you feel that every living creature is Nature; we are Nature and we also deserve a poem…
To protect flowers is to protect us.

Life is special and this is the reason why we invite you to submit your best poem or your perfect tale.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Alberta!

I'm sure that everyone knows about the environmental tragedy that took place in Alberta (Canada). An enormous fire destroyed during
many weeks the forest of this region and, at the same time, also consumed a substantial part of the lives of many people...
their memories and dreams. Nevertheless, we believe, they keep their willingness to build a new FUTURE!

This year we try to help in the reforestation of Alberta! If you wish to DONATE to plant trees, please contact:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

MY ISLAND by

by Shmavon Azatyan

Arménia

You are the heavenly island

I swim to

to be harbored

from the gloating of all world.

The sea is cold,

day is gloomy,

I’m numb -

my feelings turn frigid.

Yet you

have power on my heart.

I toil to you;

the autumn day sinks

beyond the high waters -

life draws away,

and the jump of

the blindfold lightening

speckles my anticipation.

And then the predisposition

I divine

in your manner

loses its advantage.

The time

we at last come to speech

the island has gone.

In between you and I

seas lie laden with somber skies;

only the anonymous topography

we’ve both cared to observe

is what can lead us

to one another.

Azured petals, darken at the extremity

But with colour of the Summer sky at the base

Solar yellow at the center

As the colour of the sun wrapped in the ice

Making me feel perplexity, before the impossible,

And crystalline pureness, full of simplicity,

With honey, frozen and amiable

That gently fills in my eyes with clarity

And when passing by her I would have a dilemma:

To cede and take her with me (killing her)

Or to respect her unique and lonely nature

Staying I suffering (but letting her alive)

I stood still near the stairs of João's veranda. Anxiety was everything I was feeling. I had to control myself, for a brief moment, to breathe. And there they were… in single line, climbing that wall that surrounded the stone stairs. I hardly saw them, they were an insignificant detail in the landscape. I climbed immediately and knocked on the door, with a strength that showed urgency. João opened the door, still half asleep. He explained me: — Everyone is still looking for Maria. My parents also went in search of her. — We couldn't, and we shouldn’t, but we did it, we went the three of us. I convinced him and Pedro, and we went to the forest near the corn field. Along the way, we gathered some bunches of grapes and apples. That was all we ate.
When we arrived to the limits of the corn field, we looked at the forest with respect. It was possible to see several oaks, some of them centuries old. The difference of luminosity that seemed to exist between the local where we were and the interior of the forest, was giving a serious sense to our intention. The street that led us there had a "warm" light, as if it whispered to us: — Come!... Come!... — And we, by enchantment, were going with a sense of respect. The earth covered with dry leaves of oak, and here and there, one or another plant was stiff enough to look green… I don't know what they made me feel: but certainly, they made me feel something stronger than the sense of belonging to that wild nature. It was a self contained fear, but it was only a part of the scene, it was not an alien feeling, it was not even an obstacle to our action. We were just alert. Always, like a stag, persistent, always observing what was going on.

Nevertheless, the crows were making us nervous. Their peep was having that effect on us, it sounded very sharp and was spreading through the warm and gentle wind, like the heat of a stove, that could make us dizzy due to its clearness and because it was very different from everything else one could hear. One of the flock stayed at one of the oaks to our right, and stared at us, it seemed to say: — Hello! … Hello! … — He made us stop and with a quick pace said: — Hello! Hello! — My two friends run to me and he flew away… near the road. Was he remembering us to continue?! We went away. On the path, the forest was talking to us: the pine tree stems braking; the pines falling; the cicada singing; the wind at the tree-tops, like a river of air comforting us. The fox! She would look at us surprised and ran off . The sound of our feet on the leaves and sand, was unique, and also the buzz of some insects, specially, some big beetles. Very, very big indeed…
